This weekend saw the first event of the British Superbikes Championship at Silverstone on the National circuit.
Sam Cox’s National Superstock campaign got underway with two races, one Saturday and one on Sunday.
Free practice saw Sam get as high as 7th in his group. Once both groups had completed qualifying Sam lined up in a respectable 14th place on the grid.
Unfortunately, Sam didn’t get a great start in race 1, dropping back as far as 21st place. He got his head down and after getting back into a rhythm, fought his way back through the field to a well-deserved 16th place. Sam’s best finish in the Stock 1000 class for more than 5 years.
Race 2 saw another strong race, fighting back through the field to finish up in 15th place. First points of the year on the board already.
Congratulations on a strong season opener to Sam.
We are all looking forward to seeing what the next event brings at Oulton Park at the end of the month.
